UCView Launches the ViewEdge Virtual Server

Posted by Christine on 04/18/12 at 09:28 AM

Northridge, CA, April 11, 2012 –UCView, a premier provider of digital signage solutions worldwide, announced the release of the ViewEdge Virtual server. The virtual server allows optimal operation of a digital signage platform, without the added bulk of a hardware system. Corporations are expanding to different forms of technology which involves less hardware, enabling a less costly means of digital signage operation.

“We wanted to work on a virtual server which will give operators the necessary tools needed to run their digital signage network, without the added cost of hardware,” said Guy Avital, CEO of UCView. Constantly coming out with new products and ideas, UCView wanted to provide their users with a tool which will enable them to do more without the need of a hardware device. ViewEdge Virtual servers made the change from the use of physical servers to virtual technologies, such as VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, XEN, and Citrix.

The ViewEdge Virtual server provides advanced network operation, and is just as sturdy as its hardware counterpart. It can be configured automatically to relocate the digital signage server from one host to another. There are also a multitude of applications which makes this virtual tool a superior choice. The ViewEdge Virtual server can control thousands of digital signage players operating anywhere in the world, allowing operators to manage campaigns, content, layouts, displays and schedules from a web-enabled device. The virtual server allows for simple installation and operation of your digital signage network. UCView’s Small Business-Friendly SignEdge Simplifies Starting, Running Digital Signage

Posted by Guy Avital on 01/07/12 at 10:14 AM

Northridge, CA, January 07, 2012 UCView’s new SignEdge product reduces the technical challenges of putting digital signage in a small business to plugging in a couple of cables and typing a short set of numbers into a web browser.
digital signage player
SignEdge  is a simple, highly affordable bundle of a small PC and digital signage software  that enables any small business operator to quickly and very easily start communicating with customers and staff using eye-catching, impactful video displays.

“It takes nothing more than typing one small set of numbers into a browser – even just using a smartphone or iPad - to get a digital signage network activated for a small business,” says UCView CEO Guy Avital. “We’ve invested heavily in the past two years to develop a solution for small businesses that is absolutely simple to set up, and then manage. But we also ensured that the simplicity we designed in did not come at the expense of functionality.”

Powerful Bundle
There are numerous simplified, starter solutions for digital signage on the market, Avital explains, but they tend to have limited capabilities, don’t scale up in size efficiently and require monthly fees to use.

With SignEdge, end-users buy the hardware-software bundle upfront, and face no further subscription fees. Despite an unprecedented low overall cost, users have access to a powerful, full-featured content creation and management toolset that rivals the most sophisticated subscription and enterprise platforms on the market.

SignEdge includes all the scheduling, distribution and management capabilities of leading digital signage content store and management systems, but also offers a built-in content design and creation engine, advanced touch-screen and mobile marketing capabilities, and a growing app store offering more than 30 free tools for dynamic and auto-generated content, such as a QR code generator, Twitter and other social media visualizations, local messaging and menu board tools.

“We took all the capabilities that we’ve developed over the years for our core platform, for enterprise clients like retailers, and then stripped out all the technical terms and made everything visual,” says Avital. “Our goal was to offer something that anyone – even if they didn’t know a thing about digital signage – could use with little or no training.”

The SignEdge platform also fully supports multiple languages for all aspects of the operator user experience. Languages already supported include English, Spanish and French. Adding more languages, says Avital, is a fast, easy process.

Cost-savings Important
Cost savings is a big driver behind SignEdge. A combination of chipmaker Intel’s budget-conscious Atom processor and Nvidia’s powerful ION2 graphics processor makes it possible to drive full HD off of the tiny, low-cost SignEdge digital signage player. The player supports dual screen outputs (with different content on each display), making it ideal for applications such as digital menu boards.

The SignEdge player is also small enough to easily mount behind a display panel, or inside it, using industry-standard slots available on many monitors.

The SignEdge system is sold as a software-player bundle to easily connect to new or existing display monitors at venues, and will be priced at less than $1,000 USD, one-time. The software has also been tested and validated for use with integrated all-in-one networked panel PCs sold by major manufacturers such as LG and Samsung. UCView is also working on a fully integrated PC/display/software bundle.

Simple Set-up
Setting up a SignEdge digital signage solution is designed for absolute ease of use. The media player just needs to plug into a network cable at the venue, or auto-connect to the venue’s WiFi wireless network. Then an operator uses a browser – on a PC, tablet or phone – to type in a nine or 10-digit number string provided by UCView or one of its reseller partners.

If the activation numbers are correct, a login page comes up and users are ready to go with simple, intuitive tools for designing layouts and organizing and scheduling content. “Networking manufacturers have made it really, really simple for anyone to set up a wireless router in their house. What seems really scary for that is actually really easy now,” explains Avital. “We’ve taken that approach and done the same thing for digital signage.”

The platform is also highly flexible, running on all current Windows operating systems, as well as Linux. Management of a SignEdge system is available on any standard browser. SignEdge is now shipping. For more information, including demonstration videos and detailed specifications, please visit: http://www.ucview.com

Posted by Guy Avital on 06/07/11 at 11:45 AM

New integrated content app store to provide attractive content for digital signage displays

UCView is a premier international digital signage company that has recently announced its launching of its Content Apps store. The growing demand in the digital signage industry to provide interesting and up to date attractive content made it a challenge for network owners to be on a constant search for content. “At UCView we are extremely thrilled by our new apps store,” said CEO of UCView Guy Avital. “We know that attractive content is what provides strength to our digital signage solution. Now, we have aligned with content providers to display their products in one apps store and allow customers to utilize it via our platform.”

UCView Content Apps is accessible through our portal or server platform. When a customer logs in to our portal or their own view edge digital signage server, they are able to select content from numerous apps in a wide array of categories, preview the content and then publish it. Los Angeles, CA - UCView Media, Inc. enters 2008 with a major update to its already popular Digital Signage System.  Touch screen integration allows users to interface with elements on a digital display, creating a greater degree of participation and retention than possible with static systems.  Directions, user-selected advertisements, custom media presentations and even trivia expand from static loops to dynamic audience interaction.  “With this major capability upgrade, we continue to push the boundaries of interaction and offer our clients countless options for reaching their audience,” says Guy Avital, president of UCView Media, Inc.  “Imagine needing to find a particular store in a large mall. “We want to help our clients get the most opportunity from digital signage with the highest degree of reliability and least amount of effort.  Our upcoming purpose-built systems are a major

AccuWeather and UCView Media to Distribute the Latest in Digital Signage

Posted by Guy Avital on 04/02/07 at 05:01 PM

STATE COLLEGE, PA - AccuWeather, Inc. announced today that UCView Media, Inc. has licensed AccuWeather’s news, sports and weather content for redistribution on digital signage networks across the United States and Canada.  The AccuWeather content functions as a powerful tool to draw and hold viewers, which can reduce perceived wait times.

AccuWeather’s digital signage content modules include current local weather conditions, hourly and five-day forecasts, regional radar, video forecasts and weather trivia.  Also included are U.S. & world news as well as business and sports updates.  Many of AccuWeather’s digital signage modules are also available in Spanish.

Digital signage has become an essential element for advertising to captive audiences, but displaying only advertisements can cause viewers to completely tune out the information. The AccuWeather modules integrate timely and localized information into digital signage play lists that grab a viewer’s interest.

“Weather is, by its very nature, relevant and dynamic information that draws eyes to the screens again and again. That is why weather consistently gains top audience ratings in all existing mediaand why advertisements integrated with weather information in existing media command premium rates,” said Dr. Joel N. Myers, founder and president of AccuWeather. “Now the content that AccuWeather has developed will offer to digital signage systems the same attractive power of weather.”

AccuWeather engaged with UCView Media to integrate AccuWeather’s content and fully integrated it into the UCView System, the flagship product of UCView. The UCView System delivers up-to-the-minute digital content over wireless or TCP/IP networks. The system enables display owners to manage, schedule and deliver their content. An optional advertising module allows for advertisers to log in, manage, schedule and control their advertising campaigns. The UCView system provides display owners a revenue channel without the hassles of managing advertisers.

“Bundling fresh, informative content into digital signage will keep the eyes of the targeted audience focused on the screens, providing advertisers the perfect stage to promote their products.” said Guy Avital, UCView Media CEO. “This latest addition to our system enables instantaneous delivery of weather information to a digital signage network. Setting up your own digital signage network can take less than 15 minutes!”

Distribution of AccuWeather content across the United States and Canada by UCView is effectively immediately.

The UCView System developed to manage thousands of monitors simultaneously, while allowing advertisers uploading, managing, and scheduling their content for specific monitors. i.e. a video manufacture (advertiser) may want his ads running only in the electronics section of all the stores in the network.  The content being delivered can be monitored, approved, and controlled by the individual display owner broadcasting advertiser’s ad campaign. The system is highly customizable and can be repurposed for various scenarios. UCView back-end technology developed with Unix ensuring speed, reliability, and low cost of ownership.

The UCView System was developed to manage thousands of monitors simultaneously, while allowing advertisers and administrators simple uploading, managing and scheduling of their content for specific monitors (i.e. a video manufacturer or advertiser may want their ads running only in the electronics section of all the stores in the network).  The content being delivered can be monitored, approved and controlled by the individual display owner broadcasting the advertiser’s ad campaign.  The system is highly customizable and can be repurposed for various scenarios (educational, government, financial, etc.). UCView back-end technology developed with UNIX ensures speed, reliability and low cost of ownership.
